    Ooops I forgot

    Sorry,

I forgot the most important thing to me,

It seems that it is not set the possibility to use a proxy server. In many feed reader it is implemented that possibility.

It is important, could you implement it? Maybe there is already the possibility?

    that's all

    Take care

Hi Lucky. Could you give me an example of the kind of proxy server you would like support for? Do you mean a standard web proxy, or are there specific feed proxy services you are referring to?

Version 1.6 will allow feed requests to be routed through the Google feed proxy, allowing you to download cached older articles that are no longer available on the original feed, but I can also see about implementing support for standard web proxies. Let me know what precisely you mean and I'll see what I can do!

Hi Logan, most of RSS, Feed readers as most of programs that use the web have the possibility to use proxy server to connect in general way. I mean the same proxies that are used in Internet explorer. Usually they (feed readers) have a flag to put to choose if you want to use the same proxy settings of internet explorer or if you want to input your manual configuration.

The proxies I meant are: proxy HTTP Port n: , Proxy SSL port: until the SOCKS port: (all the tipical config you find in IE7 for instance. I did not mean Google proxy.

I hope to have well explained what you needed.

Thanks Lucky, I'll look into adding support in an upcoming version (which version exactly will depend upon how much work is involved). I haven't used a proxy server in years so I will have some re-educating to do I think. I'll do some research and see what I can learn.

....wait a sec.... I made several test right now. It seems that your Feedbeast already take the setting of Internet explorer as Proxy by default.

If you turn off proxies on IE 7 also in Feedbeast do this. This means that takes IE7 settings to go to the web, differently from Opera for instance.

That's ok . So it doesn't need to put a window in which one have to flag: autodetect proxies settings from internet explorer.

I beg you pardon for not having check this out before writing.

     thanks

    Re: Ooops I forgot

That would make sense, seeing how the browser component is really just an embedded IE browser.

However, those proxy settings won't apply to the feeds themselves. For this, I will have to implement the proxy handling manually. If possible, I will include an option to simply use the settings from IE (or Firefox, but learning how to do that would probably take ages) if available, as well as allowing them to be entered manually.

When I get some spare time, at any rate! Smile

    Re: Ooops I forgot

I did not know that proxy settings on IE7 doesn't affect the feed themselves. I have seen that the page opened, when I open a feed, use the same connection of IE7. Probably, as you say the feed itself use the direct connect , different from settings of IE7. In this case doesn't matter, I was thinking was a simple thing to put the possibility to inherit the settings of IE7.

No prob , sorry for that. It is you the programmer , I can only suggest, but I do not "pretend" anything. You are kind.

    I already asked many things....

I do not want to spend too much eheheh  Smile

    Re: Ooops I forgot

Certainly! I'm planning to release an early beta this week. I'm just trying to get it in good shape to do that. Even beta releases need to be in decent working order.

You'll be delighted to know that I've already implemented a couple of your suggestions, including a wide-screen "Horizontal" view mode (and while I was at it, a couple new ones as well), and a movable popup window (not resizable yet, but it's a start). These are already implemented and will be available in the beta release later this week.

Thanks for the offer, I appreciate all the help/testing I can get.

    Logan

    P.S.
To "sign up" for the beta just set your "check for updates" setting to include beta releases. This is the only channel through-which beta releases will be available, and is opt-in only, but doesn't require any official sign-up.
